Three panel supermini kaftan in pink and white stripe with purple design.
Pippa Holt’s kaftans are handmade by artisan weavers on a traditional backstrap loom – each piece takes up to one month to complete. No.82 is a popular Supermini choice and for good reason: its pretty and bold pink colour combination creates a striking vacation look. Just add sunkissed skin and great summer accessories. +
Nothing prepared Pippa Holt for the searing Texan heat while living in Houston and it was her colourful, loose fit kaftans that became a stylish and bold wardrobe staple. Discovered when she travelled to a remote part of Mexico she has since collaborated with a group of artisan weavers to create Pippa Holt Kaftans. Every kaftan is unique and each entirely hand-crafted item takes one month to make. Naturally dyed cotton thread is woven into cloth using a backstrap loom, an ancient weaving technique that has been used by generations in this community. The colours of the threads are dyed from natural processes using vegetables and flowers. Head weaver, Felipa has over fifty years experience and along with her daughter, Angelica and a group of artisans they create one off pieces following age-old traditions. Pippa Holt's editorial background as an editor at British Vogue, a degree in fashion design combined with her love of travel is very much evident in her collection. Growing up on the beaches of Australia, she was inspired by her grandmother's style of tropical dressing at her seaside holiday home on The Great Barrier Reef. “These kaftans are light, practical and yet recall far-flung shores. They create the sense of freedom of dressing that I always enjoyed growing up in Australia”.
