Single panel midi kaftan in ‘denim’ with white design
Pippa Holt grew up on the beaches of Australia and was inspired by her grandmother's style of tropical dressing. The new concept of ‘denim’ in this SS18 kaftan offers a relaxed but modern look. The blue is contrasted with white zig zag motifs. Naturally dyed cotton thread, woven into cloth using a backstrap loom, gives this particular kaftan a linen-like soft feel. Looks great worn with denim.
Pippa Holt's editorial background as a stylist at British Vogue, a degree in fashion design combined with her love of travel is very much evident in her collection. Growing up on the beaches of Australia, she was inspired by her grandmother's style of tropical dressing at her seaside holiday home on The Great Barrier Reef. It’s why, in part she decided to launch her eponymous range of kaftans which celebrates her love of indigenous textiles, far-flung travel and beautiful, original attire. While living in Houston, she discovered a group of artisans in a remote part of Mexico and decided to collaborate with them to create the Pippa Holt Kaftan collection. It takes one month to make each unique kaftan and, due to the way they are hand-crafted, no two are the same. Naturally dyed cotton thread is woven into cloth using a backstrap loom, an ancient weaving technique that has been used by generations in this community. The colours of the threads are dyed from natural processes using vegetables and flowers.
