Launched for S/S 2018, kaftan No.92 has a fresh feel of the far flung. Handmade in pretty lemon and white striped artisan woven cotton with pastel sprinkled motifs, this statement-making kaftan makes a chic addition to any wardrobe.
Pippa Holt's editorial background as a stylist at British Vogue, a degree in fashion design combined with her love of travel is very much evident in the Pippa Holt kaftan collection. Growing up on the beaches of Australia, she was inspired by her grandmother's style of tropical dressing at her seaside holiday home on The Great Barrier Reef. I have always adored that sense of freedom and dressing for the beach, something which translates into the collection that celebrates my love of indigenous textiles, far-flung travel and beautiful, original attire.” Collaborating with a group of artisans in a remote part of Mexico, which she met while living in Houston, together they have created a colourful collection for the beach and the city. It takes one month to make each unique kaftan and, due to the way they are hand-crafted, no two are the same. Naturally dyed cotton thread is woven into cloth using a backstrap loom, an ancient weaving technique that has been used by generations in this community. The colours of the threads are dyed from natural processes using vegetables and flowers. Head weaver, Felipa has over fifty years experience and along with her daughter, Angelica and a group of artisans they create one off pieces following age-old traditions.
